Alberta’s Native Bees: Who They Are, Why They Matter, and How We’re Helping with Megan Evans from the Alberta Native Bee Council.

Alberta is home to a remarkable diversity of native bees, each playing a vital role in our ecosystems. This talk will introduce the basics of native bee biology, their importance as pollinators, and the challenges they face. It will also provide an update on the Alberta Native Bee Council’s latest projects, including conservation initiatives, research, and how you can get involved in protecting these essential pollinators.

Soil-Nature’s Water Reservoir with Sheryl Normandeau and Janet Melrose

Join the authors of the Prairie Gardener guides to learn about how good soil can conserve water. In our changing world water along with how we can conserve it is a vital concern for gardeners.

Beyond storing water for later use, our soil is the best reservoir for the moisture we do receive. In this talk and discussion we will look at  the strategies and techniques for  ensuring that our soil is the best it can be to conserve the moisture we get each season.
